As the name suggests, the Root chakra is the foundation of our being -- much like the roots of a tree. This chakra is at the base of the spine and is represented by the element Earth and the color Red. It represents the relationship between our physical bodies and the material world -- grounding us in our physical existence. A balanced first chakra helps us let go of what is no longer needed and blend our physical nature with out spiritual one, bringing us health, prosperity, security, and a dynamic presence.
