Charitable Works

About a year ago I went to a meeting of a women's group at a nearby Episcopal church. The subject of that night's meeting was making rosaries. Let's just say I was hooked -- or obsessed as some would say! I like to think of it as being "called." I couldn't wait to go buy more beads and make more rosaries.  For me, this is a form of meditation and closeness with God through the leadings of the Holy Spirit.

Since that initial experience, I have created and given away over 200 Anglican rosaries, a few Catholic rosaries, some prayer beads, and chakra bracelets. Oftentimes someone's name would come mind and I just "knew" I needed to make them a rosary. It seems that it doesn't really matter what colors or design I think they need, when I gather the supplies, what develops is exactly what they needed -- regardless of what I may have thought.

Over the past year, several friends have encouraged me to sell my work. I always declined stating that it is my ministry and I didn't feel led to charge. I have been amazed how uncomfortable people are when you truly give them something for nothing! In some cases of extreme discomfort on the recipient's part, I ask that they pick up some inexpensive beads in exchange for the rosary or buy me a coffee (Starbucks!).

Everything changed a few months ago when I started doing Chakra bracelets. I really can't say why I started doing them, all I know is that I did. After making several bracelets, I clearly "heard" that it was time to start charging and in this way support making free prayer beads. That is when quintEssential You was born.

I am not a charitable organization nor is any portion of your purchase tax-deductible; however, know that you may be helping someone in need of a little nudge in life. If you want to help support this ministry without making a purchase, please email me and I will provide instuctions on making a donation through PayPal (remember it is not tax-deductible).

Also, if you know of an organization or person who would benefit from one of the items on this site but that cannot afford it, please email me with the information and I, with God's help, will gladly ensure they have what they need. (You can either be acknowledged or it can be a random act of kindness.)
