| Prayer beads are non-denominational (generic, if you will) and borrow from many traditions without adhering to any one religion or creed. They are neutral in nature so that, as a spiritual practice, they can fit into an already existing belief set as easily as they can stand on their own.
By selecting symbols that have meaning to the individual and choosing the ways in which to work with the beads, prayer beads can be personalized.
Prayer beads can also act as a focusing tool in prayer or meditation, adding a tactile element without specific prayers attached. They can be used as an anchor for affirmations. When used with repetitive phrases they can provide comfort and ease the grieving process.
Because of the individual nature of prayer beads, they can take many forms and include as many or as few beads as desired.
